Under the influence....

Right now I am under the influence .... of school that is. I have not be in school for 12 years now. It was very confusing when I first started. When I was in school, computers were not a big part of my life at the time and this is my first computer since AOL charged by the hour to be on the internet. Yeah, I'm a dinosaur when it comes to computers. I have not only learned a lot from school but I learned a lot about how to work on a computer just by figuring out how to do things for school. Schooling through online has got me more up to date in today's world of computer technology. I am also faster at typing since I first started a few months ago. I even bought a smart phone the other day. I really am trying to keep my head above water when comes to technology these days.

  1. Don't worry Susan, you are not alone. I am 27 and computers were not really all that big when I was in high school. I knew how to type and run the internet along with word and excel, but had not really used much of it until I started here at Kaplan last September. School has really impacted me in a good way too and I feel like I am more capable now than I was 6 months ago, and the whole school concept is very empowering, isn't it?

  2. Susan, I know how you feel about the computers not being a big deal when we were in school I have been out of school almost 24 years and decided to go back at age 39 and now currently sitting at the wonderful age of 41. I lucked out a bit that I have been exposed to computer since they came out in 1983 and have more experience with them. I learned how to use a computer better just by chatting in chat rooms. The more you work with them the more comfortable you will be. Congradualtions and your accomplishments in this wonderful computer world and keep up the good work!!!!
